RELL SEAS WIKI

Jail System

Last updated: March 21, 2026

Overview

The Jail System is a multi-tiered punishment mechanic for players who commit crimes - attacking civilians, killing NPCs, or engaging in piracy on Marine-protected islands. Rather than a simple respawn penalty, RELL Seas features three escalating levels of imprisonment, with the deepest being Hades Asylum - the game's equivalent of Impel Down from One Piece.

🔒Prison Tiers

1

Waiting / Arrest

Marine Base cells

Easy Escape

The first and mildest tier of imprisonment. Players who commit minor crimes are captured and held in a basic cell awaiting processing. This is a temporary holding state.

How to Trigger

Get caught by Marines after attacking civilians or NPCs in Marine-patrolled areas.

Location

Marine Base cells

💡Marines will chase and subdue you. Once downed, you are transported to the holding area.
2

Mining Camp

Prison Mining Camp

Medium Escape

The second tier of imprisonment. Instead of simple confinement, players sentenced to Level 2 are sent to a labor camp where they must mine resources. This mirrors the forced labor theme from One Piece's Impel Down.

How to Trigger

Escalated crimes or repeat offenses push the sentence to Level 2.

Location

Prison Mining Camp

💡The Mining Camp was shown in the Movie 1 developer showcase. Players mine in the camp and can potentially use these materials - or use the activity to plan their escape.
3

Impel Down - Hades Asylum

Hades Asylum - accessible via elevator system

Very Hard Escape

The maximum security prison and the deepest tier of imprisonment. Hades Asylum is RELL Seas's interpretation of One Piece's Impel Down - a massive, multi-floor facility with unique biomes and puzzles on each floor. Getting out is extremely difficult.

How to Trigger

Severe crimes, high bounty, or being a persistent threat to Marine operations.

Location

Hades Asylum - accessible via elevator system

Features

  • Fully functional elevator system connecting all floors
  • Each floor has its own unique biome, game mode, and puzzles
  • Hidden entrance - the path in is not obvious
  • Progression pathways tied to Hades Asylum exploration
  • Real Seas 'Gulag' concept - a long-term containment system
💡Hades Asylum is also accessible to high-ranking Marines and enclosed community members who can operate the elevator to process prisoners.

⛓️Handcuffs

Players (and NPCs) can be bound using Handcuffs. A handcuffed player faces a significantly harder escape challenge - approximately 20 times harder than normal. Handcuffs must be applied intentionally by another player.

How to Use

Equip Handcuffs from the Items menu and use on a downed or cooperating player.

Escape Challenge

20x harder to break free compared to normal imprisonment

Marine Role

Marines play an active role in the jail system. High-ranking Marine players can operate the Hades Asylum elevator, escort prisoners between floors, and release or detain NPCs from cells. This creates a player-driven law enforcement meta-game.

Marine Actions

  • Operate the Hades Asylum elevator (high rank required)
  • Escort prisoners between jail levels
  • Release or detain NPCs from cells
  • Chase and capture criminal players

⚠️NPC Crimes

Attacking civilian NPCs in Marine-protected towns will alert nearby Marines who will pursue and jail you. NPCs have voice lines and play specific roles in towns - they are not just random mobs.

💡One-tapping civilian NPCs triggers an immediate Marine response. Plan criminal activities carefully.

Notes

  • The three-tier jail system was confirmed in Movie 1 and Movie 3 of the developer showcases.
  • Hades Asylum (Impel Down equivalent) was shown in Movie 3 with detailed floor layouts.
  • The Real Brothers mentioned managing the Marine faction as an open community - players can join and become prison guards.
