Ocean Zones
Overview
RELL Seas divides the ocean into distinct zones with unique environmental hazards, climates, and content gates. These zones determine which threats players face while sailing, influence ship class requirements, and reward exploration with access to new sea regions. The Adventure Dex temperature tracking feature is directly tied to the zone climate system.
🗺️Sea Region Progression
The starting sea region. Calmer waters, lower-tier faction enemies, and introductory content. Accessible with a basic Sloop from the start of the game.
Mid-game sea region. Unpredictable weather patterns and stronger faction crew presence. Caravel-class ships are recommended for sustained C2 exploration.
Late-game region featuring extreme environmental hazards and elite faction encounters. Galleon-class ships with meaningful upgrade investment required.
The highest-tier sea region. Maximum environmental danger, top-tier faction crews, and exclusive end-game content. Full gear and maximum ship upgrades required to survive.
⚠️Environmental Hazards
Tsunami Zones
High RiskAreas prone to massive wave events capable of capsizing or heavily damaging ships. Navigating tsunami zones requires sturdy vessels and fast reactions.
Stormy Zones
Medium RiskRegions with persistent severe weather - high winds, reduced visibility, and lightning strikes. Storm zones test navigation skill and ship hull durability over time.
Sinkholes
High RiskUnderwater cavities that generate dangerous pull currents near the surface. Ships too close to a sinkhole are dragged under. Submarines can navigate through sinkholes to access hidden underwater regions.
